Happy Makar Sankranti
Makar Sankranti, also referred to as ‘Uttarayana’ or ‘Makar’, is celebrated by several states of India around mid-January. Tamil Nadu celebrates as ‘Pongal’, Punjab celebrates as ‘Lohri’, Kerala celebrates as ‘Makara Vilakku’ at this time and other states celebrate the festival as the harvest festival representing India rich in diverse traditions, customs and practices. The EBSB club CMRIT Bangalore has also celebrated the festival ‘Makar Sankranti’ with the paired state ‘BTKIT Dwarahat, Uttarakhand’. The coordinators of the club have presented different forms of the festival being celebrated in different states along with their traditions and customs. |
