SAINIK SCHOOL REWARI A REPORT ON EK BHARAT SHRESHTH BHARAT EVENT- JULY 2022 1. Refer to Sainik School Bijapur letter no. SSBJ/237/EBSB/Trg dated 28 June 2022. 2. Two events were conducted in the month of July in the series of EBSB annual activities. 3. Detail of the events are as under: - (a) EVENT- 1 (i) PREPARATION OF TRADITIONAL DISH OF PARTNER STATE - ANDHRA PRADESH. A special dinner of the food items of our partner state Andhra Pradesh was prepared in School Dining Hall on 29 Jul 2022 (Friday). Andhra Pradesh is known for its spices. The Andhra cuisine served in the dining hall comprised of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The famous Hyderabadi dishes including Biryani, delectable Pulihora, Andhra Chicken Biryani, curd rice, pickle made with Ambadi leaves, Coconut chutneys, Papad etc were served to all the cadets Staff and the Officers. Parent representative was invited as a special guest in special dinner programme. 450 cadets, 30 Staff members and officers enjoyed the delicious food item of Andhra Pradesh. (ii) DESCRIPTIVE WRITING ON THE TRADITIONAL DISH OF PARTNER STATE. All Cadets of class VIII were asked to write a -Descriptive report on the traditional dish of Partner State- Andhra Pradesh on 30 July 2022. 77 cadets of class VIII wrote about the traditional dish of Andhra Pradesh. They all came to know about the rich food items of Andhra Pradesh State. (b) EVENT- 2 (i) DECLAMATION COMPETITIONS FOR CLASSES IX TO XII ON AGRICULTURAL, CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL ASPECTS OF THE PARTNER STATE. An Inter-House competition on the topic- Agricultural, Cultural and Historical Aspects of the Partner State- Andhra Pradesh was organised in the School on 16 July 2022. Two cadets from each house participated in this event from class IX to XII. Total 12 cadets participated in the event. Judges for the events for Event were Mrs Anupriya Priyadarshi, PGT, Mr Bhawani Singh, TGT, Mr Dinesh Kumar Mahlan, TGT. Cadet Kirti got the first position in this event. Mr Arvind Kumar was the overall In-charge of the event. Col S Dhar, Principal appreciated the efforts of the cadets and briefed cadets about the different aspects of our partner state Andhra Pradesh.

Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Activities for the month of July 2022 were organised at Sainik School Kapurthala as per the instructions received. Since the school was observing Summer Vacation for the most part of July, the first activity was organised online on 15 July 2022 wherein the cadets prepared traditional dishes from the partner state and shared the methods of preparation through their respective WhatsApp Class groups. A total of 35 cadets participated in the activity. A declamation on the topic - "Importance of Culinary Exchange among various states'" was also organized on 28 July 2022 for classes XI and XII. A total of 20 cadets participated in the activity and expressed their views on the given topic. All cadets participated in the activities with a lot of enthusiasm.

Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program include session on different themes which are aligned with EBSB vision and also connected to paired state Chhattisgarh. Under exposure visit between paired state online meeting was held on 13/07/2022 with receiving and sending college of EBSB named IRMA and Pharmacy college at Aanand in Gujarat, regarding upcoming exposure visit by Chhattisgarh students to Gujarat and on 12 August 2022 Team going to Chhattisgarh. A detailed discussion was held for the planning of the visit, about accommodation, travel arrangements, security and a roadmap for visiting places with other necessary suggestions. The meeting was conducted by nodal officer Smagra Shiksha Gujarat and the team.

Information was given to the cadets about the variety of the food practices, festivals, and nutritional value of the food. India is the nation which defines the term Unity in Diversity. The term Unity in diversity refers to the togetherness in-spite of presence of immense different beliefs. Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme aims for improving the unity between different cultures of Indian society. It stresses on state-state, state-Union Territory or district to district harmony and brotherhood by organizing cultural exchange programs. The aim of this scheme is to boost unity in India through the existing cultural connections among various parts of the country. It also aims to improve interaction between Indian people who are living at different places all through the country. This initiative will connect people to people which will really enhance unity in India. In order to strengthen the unity and integrity in India under the EBSB, along with promoting a proper understanding of the culinary arts relating to or connected with the cooking, kitchen, plating, presentation and service of food among the cadets, SSA organized a culinary exchange program on 11 Jul 2022 at Nirmal Jeet Singh Sekhon Cadets' Mess based on theme "Indian Cuisine amalgamation of different types of culinary arts" by preparing traditional dish Nagaland. All the cadets tasted the dish. After tasting the dish, the cadets wrote a descriptive writing on the dish Akibeye. It was an opportunity for the cadets to taste the dish and learn about the variety of cuisines, food ingredients. All the cadets were impressed and inspired while participating in the Culinary Exchange Program.

Indiatourism Mumbai facilitated a storytelling session for over 150 middle school children at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Colaba , Navy Nagar, Mumbai today. The objective of the ‘Katha Yatra is to take forward the Government of India’s Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (EBSB) initiative. Today’s Katha Yatra today (Story Telling session) covered EBSB’s focus on Maharashtra and Odisha (paired States) to educate students about glory of the paired states by highlighting the connections and narratives between these two states. A team from Dhi Project, Mumbai conducted the story telling session using audio visuals and props to engage with the students. The students were hooked on to the interesting stories told during the session and took away valuable learnings about history, culture, cuisine, art, dance forms, monuments, tourist attractions of Maharashtra and Odisha.
