Munda's slogan – “Abua raj ete jana, maharani raj tends jana” meaning 'Let the kingdom of the queen be ended and our kingdom be established.' Birsa Munda was born on 15 November 1875, at the village of Ulihatu in the Lohardaga district of Bengal Presidency — now in Khunti district of Jharkhand — on a Thursday (Some sources claim he was born on 18 July 1872, and not in 1875) and hence named after that day, according to the then prevalent Munda custom. Birsa Munda A freedom fighter, a peerless protagonist of tribal rights who stunned Britishers with his courage and bravery, and a tribal folk hero, Birsa Munda became a God to his followers. Scholars Institute of Technology & Management has observed the day on 15th November 2022 on his birth anniversary. In the presence of Prof. (Mrs.)Jhumur Lodh, Director of SITM, Dean of Academics, Prof. Pranjal Choudhury along with Senior faculty members, Asst Professors and the entire stuff members and students of various semesters, programme has started with appropriate arrangements , flower decoration and lighting of lamp. Mrs. Hummer Lodh, the Director of SITM has taken the initiative. Nayanjyoti Deka has explained the contribution of Birsa Munda towards the tribal community .Though he lived a short life and the movement died out soon after his death, Birsa Munda is known to have paid a significant role in mobilizing the tribal community against the British and forcing the colonial officials to introduce laws protecting the land rights of the tribal’s. The impact of the Munda revolt was the establishment of the Chotanagpur Tenancy Act in 1908. The act banned the transfer of tribal lands to non-tribal owners. The day was celebrated in a very organized way initiated by SITM.
